2011 Conference guidelines
Objective
To provide an opportunity for active SA mineral explorers and miners to present technical updates to their peers of activities on their flagship projects. Participants will gain an appreciation of the diverse activities in the State and gain ideas from each other to collectively improve the State’s chances of future mine development.
Strategy
To hold an economical, no frills, one day, stimulating, technically biased, all commodities, all areas conference including new companies, exploration projects, feasibility studies/development projects, near mine exploration and operating mines. Presenters will be encouraged to avoid corporate backgrounds and will not be asked to document their presentations other than by providing a copy of their visual material. These will be put onto one DVD and a copy produced for all participants. There will be no booths and minor advertising which will mean less organisation and will encourage networking during breaks. There will be layout tables for publicity material for sponsors at $750 each.

Venue
Halls C and G, Adelaide Convention Centre, North Terrace, Adelaide.

Registration
Aleisha Sullivan at SACOME is managing the online registration, producing name tags and a delegates list for each registrant.
On the morning of the Conference, registrations will be conducted at the Convention Centre from 8:00 to 8:30 am. Jeanette Brooks and Kerrie Kelly will organise a reception attendant to handle late registrations on Friday morning. This will involve handing out name tags, a copy of the delegate list and the program. We will allow late registrants to pay by cheque or credit card on the day, though we will not promote this.
Students
Students have to register and will be charged $15.00 for attendance.
Catering
Catering will be organised through the Convention Centre. Final numbers need to be advised 5 days prior to the event. We will arrange morning and afternoon tea and coffee breaks, and a light lunch. There will be post conference drinks, sponsored by SACOME and Paydirt Magazine, between 5:30 and 6:30 pm.
Visuals
Please get your presentation material to Ann or Ray Young (at 58 Beulah Road, email: ayoung@fexploration.com) by 5 pm on Wednesday 30 November, or as a fallback position, bring it along on a memory stick on the day. Presentations need to be in Power Point or as a PDF file. The organisers will take no responsibility for errors or the quality of the visual material. A professional technician will be there on the day to manage the visuals/microphone. We will have a projector that is suitable for the screen size.
Ann Young at Flinders Exploration (email: ayoung@fexploration.com) will compile the visual material and organise a DVD to be sent after the event to each registrant.
Program
Will consist of one 25 minute session for Paul Heithersay (8:35 to 9:00 am) and four sessions each chaired by one organisation’s representative, followed by a summing up by Derek Carter. This allows 25 presentations. Twenty-three of 15 minutes, one of 25 minutes (Paul Heithersay), one of 30 minutes (Richard Hillis) and one 15 minute summing-up presentation (Derek Carter). There is little time for questions but we will have a 5-minute slot at the end of each session. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions of presenters during breaks. A draft program will be circulated in early November.

PIRSA Opening
Paul Heithersay has agreed to open the Conference with a 25 minute presentation on a topic of his choice.
Guidelines for Chairs of Sessions and Presenters
Remember; presenters are expected to pay their registration fees as the conference is competitively priced and the profits go to local associations. Please get your presentation material to Ann or Ray Young (at 58 Beulah Road, email: ayoung@fexploration.com) by 5 pm on Wednesday 30 November, or as a fallback position, bring it along on a memory stick on the day. To save time, introductions will be brief mentioning name, company and title only. The organisers request an emphasis on activities and results on a flagship project or projects during 2011, with suggestions about future activities. The most suitable presenters would be Managing Directors, exploration managers or operations managers. Session Chairs will ring the bell after 13 minutes from commencement, signalling two minutes are left. The bell will again be rung at 15 minutes and presenters will be expected to finish so that the next presentation can commence. No written presentations will be necessary.
